My friggin air went out.  Its 97 inside this swamp house.  The ac guy was able to make it today (and I called him today so it must be some kind of miracle) and said a board shorted out and might have been hit by lightning.  Okay then.  I'm just a little snarky, because I had to miss Coraline to sign some paper I couldn't even keep.  But it was still under warranty so all free.  Yay.  In a couple hours back to usual.

I went to a late lunch early dinner at a mexican restuarant.  The music was so loud we were going to complain until we noticed it was a live performer with a boom box.  There were only three tables occupied in the entire restaurant.  One table had three women who were totally drunk.  The music was in Spanish which I don't understand one word of and the women were singing as loud as the man was.  He didn't mind because he went over and sat at their table while singing.  One lady got up and danced with him and then all the other men at the second table. 

Ter didn't order anything because he had food posioning from there from the last time we went.  I blame it on the three baskets of chips he had eaten.  I don't believe any of us will go back again EVER.

I love sentences that get all twisted up and with some thought makes a lot of uncommon sense.  A lot like my I Am What I Am phrase I posted.

So what's been happening.  Nothing.  I went to the library for a free showing of the movie Inkheart.  I love the idea of the story coming alive and the reader becoming a part of it.  I also played the boardgame Monster Life and then Star Wars Monopoly (the short version).  I neither won nor lost (sort of like real life).  I'm impatiently waiting for the heat to leave and fall to begin.

Yesterday I heard was the 40th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing on the moon.  To quote L. K. Hamilton from her website:

okay, movies are over for now.  I saw Always  with Holly Hunter, Beaches  which always makes me cry, and Working Girl who has Harrison Ford who is one of my all time favorites.  Now my brain is dead.  I feel like a zombie.  I haven't read anything in four days.  That is so sad to me.

So I watched Out of Africa (good but loooong), Sabrina (with Audrey Hepburn), and Ever After (always liked that one).  Today will be my last movie marathon.  I didn't get as much computer time as I was hoping for but that's life.

Yesterday was packed.  I ran a 2-mile interval.  I helped clean out the aquatic turtle tank and washed the dishes.  I mad an actual dinner, so to speak. It was then time for movies and rootbeer floats.  There were four movies, one rootbeer float.  They were American Graffiti, While You Were Sleeping, Labryinth, and Chicago.

I am in a very selected mood.  I'm sorry [livejournal.com profile] gamerprettyboy for not knowing the nine justices on the Supreme Court.  My brother in Baltimore got all the political savvy.  He can rattle off all the Congressmens' names, Sanators, court cases, and I just nod my head.  I  think that the fact that most politicians that I do know are so backstabbing.  They make promises galore to get into office and then do their own agenda.  Our Mayor here is pathetic.  I HATE with a passion how he represents this city. He tries to connect with the younger generation, I think, with a drink in his hand at all times. Thank God he's almost out of here but has the gale to try to get his wife elected with the obvious intent that he'd still have his hand in the pot.  I also really, really hate that slogan: what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.  Yes, people, it's okay to come and have affairs, and lose your retirement money, and make asses of yourself.  We won't tell your spouse or coworkers.  I guess that's his idea of advertisement.  Sometimes I really hate it here.  The drivers are extremely rude, the lights are mistimed, the heat is unbearable.  I don't mean to sound sarcastic Mr. Dorian Gray.  I really am sorry.  I tend to vote only when a issue impacts me and that shouldn't be the American way.  I should know these kinds of things, but I believe someone mentioned that learnig by rote.. well, it just slips out the other side of my head.  If I don't use a particular knowledge on a daily basis I tend to forget it.  I'd forget my own name if I didn't hear it often enough.  But your blog has gotten me to think (an amazing feat in its own right) and I think you for that.  I guess that's what this whole lj is about.  To connect with people who otherwise you'd never have a chance to know and that would be a sad thing.  I've been very lucky with the friends who have friended me back.  Even the ones who only post every blue moon.  Through this site I have gained new knowledge and been led to new interests and shared a few bits of my limited wisdom.  That's pretty cool.

This weekend is dedicated to movies and junk food.  Jules and I have decided that since we're by ourselfs we will be the Gilmore GIrls and watch movies and make fun of them.  We bought poptarts, ice cream, cherries, fritos, marshmallows, rootbeer, and whip cream.  So far we watched Pretty Woman, Frisco Kid, and When Harry Met Sally.  I'm 5'9" and 130 lbs so if I want to stay that way tomorrow morning we plan on some excersice.  Probably running before our next round of marathon.  Also aspirin since I have a touch of headache.  Also I have more time on computer in the mornings so yay.  If there is any possible way which I haven't found yet I will try to find Torchwood and watch it.  I have until Monday when I lose my freedom.   Heehee.

I have in my possessin The Little, Brown Handbook 7th ed.  It's an excellent source to help write grammatical sentences, punctuation, mechanics, etc.  I know now to use the Chicago Manual Style for my bibliography with my Greeks.  I'm trying like mad not to use footnotes or endnotes in my project.  Guys, this is starting to give me a headache.  I caught several mistakes: for example,  I had someone married to the wrong person and listed as a son instead of a daughter.  Here's a small sample:


Abas: (king of Argolis) married Aglaia and had his twins Proetus and Acrisius.

Acrisius: son of Abas and Aglaia. Twin to Proetus. Married Aganippe who had a daughter Danaë.

 

Aganippe: married Acrisius and mother to Danaë.

Danaë: daughter of Acrisius and Aganippe. Mother of Perseus by Zeus.

ETC...

I now have 43 pages with over 5900 words.  And there is so much more to log.  This will take way longer than the summer, but yet still fun.  Some of these characters (like Zeus, Poseidon, Aphrodite) are very promiscuous.

I got my hair cut today.  It's barely past my shoulders and layered.  I feel more grown up.  It's the first time I went to a hairstylest in years.  My head is lighter.  I like it!

Didn't realize how long it's been since I posted, but since not much happened I spared everyone.  Yesterday though I went to Stefan's house for a small party.  I posted about him about a Christmas party and this time it went much better.  I sat by the pool for awhile with my feet all cooled off and then went in and played pool twice.  Won once and lost once.  There were some trick shots but they were done on accident so not sure if they count.  haha.  Came home and watched the fireworks out of my front door.  Then I played Wheel of Fortune board game.  Ended with completely no money.  Oh well.  Then played the board game Swords and Skulls.  I won it with only 4 gold pieces, but now I am the new pirate king.  AAARRRGH.  Watch it, Matey.  Went to bed  about 12:15 but didn't fall asleep til 1:30.  My mind kept buzzing.  Hope all is well!
